She had her first fashion blog in elementary school, she launched her YouTube channel in high school, and today she is a well-known and successful influencer, Martina Horňáková. Moma took her passion for beauty to the next level and, in collaboration with cosmyfy, created the BE YOU – by Moma collection of cosmetic products, which is enjoying increasing popularity. What is behind the production of cosmetics and entrepreneurship at a young age? We asked Moma and she revealed this to us.
Hi Mati, last November your first beauty products from the BE YOU – by Moma collection saw the light of day. How do you feel almost a year after the collection was launched? Can you still not believe it or is it already a fully-fledged business for you?
“I wouldn’t call it a business, but rather a dream come true. Making a business out of makeup on the Czech-Slovak market is clearly more difficult than anyone could imagine. The production and constant testing of samples from Italy is expensive, not to mention that prices need to be adjusted to local conditions. In the meantime, I am humbly watching how interest in the brand is growing and I am looking forward to the success of the first products.”
She opened October by introducing two new beautiful products, namely an eyeshadow palette and a brown liner. Which products from the BE YOU – by Moma collection are your favorites?
“My favorite is definitely my contour palette, although I have to say that I put 110% into all the products. However, I also use bronzer and highlighter on days when I wear almost no makeup and the palette is also adapted for eye makeup, so it's a win-win.”

What is behind the production of cosmetics? Which processes do you enjoy the most and which ones do you enjoy the least?
“I probably enjoy the most when I first see the final product (as my followers could see in thelast vlog) and the least I think about the lengthy processes, testing and commenting on samples until they have their final form. Anyway,all these steps are the way to a successful product,so in theory I enjoy everything.”
Your palette also includes eyeshadows called Traplife and Zoe, which probably refer to your boyfriend and car. Do all the names of the shadows have a hidden meaning?
“I don't know if there's a hidden meaning, but they definitely have a meaning. Foxy is my dog's name, Aquarius is my zodiac sign, and so on.”

What are your ambitions in the beauty industry? What would you like to achieve?
“I would like to take it as far as the market and opportunities allow in the beauty industry. I would definitely like to sell the brand in more countries not just online, and ideally start in the Czech Republic.”
What does entrepreneurship look like for a young person? Have you ever encountered someone trying to trick you or underestimating you based on your age?
“I have never encountered underestimation in business. I think I take my job seriously enough for someone to directly underestimate me. It has never happened to me personally. As for ‘‘tricking’’, that’s a different story. Everyone tries to try, mostly with the vision of greater profit, so unfortunately I have experience with that.”

What would you say to young people who are thinking about starting their own business?
“Let them think about whether they are willing to invest a lot of time and effort into it, even if it will not be profitable at first. If they are only going into it for the money, then it is not a good start. If it is a passion, then go ahead, it will drive them in the worst moments.”
Can you tell us what other projects we can look forward to?
“We have a lot going on with the Girls Gone Wild movement, so all I can say is that I recommend everyone to watch GGW, hehe.”
What makes you happiest in life right now?
“Currently interested in BE YOU – by Moma, buying my first apartment and last but not least, a boyfriend and overall I have a very healthy environment of people I meet.”
There is nothing more beautiful than when a passion becomes your livelihood.
