Matej Zrebný starts his music career with the song Story

You certainly know Matej from the well-known duo Zrebny & Frlajs, which shows with its videos that creating on YouTube can be fun and professional at the same time. Among their most famous videos, which you have surely seen too, are Types of Doctors (29 million views), When you invite a friend over (7.5 million views) or Types of people on the toilet (3 million views.). Matej has never hidden the fact that he is also interested in making music, which we could see on the first song Zrebny & Frlajs – V POHODE feat. Ronie or Zrebný & Frlajs – LOVEIN feat. Dominika Mirgová, Shorts. He himself says that music is his passion and that's why he decided to start his own channel MATT Zrebny, where you can already listen to his first solo Story. What is the story behind this song and his musical career? We asked Matej.

Hello Matej, how long have you wanted to release your own song? How does it feel when you finally did it?

“For a very long time, I remember when I was still in high school I had a dream that one day I would like to record something in the studio and release something that would be really good. It came true for the first time when Lukáš and I released the first version of Zrebny & Frlajs – V POHODE feat. Dives. That was actually the first thing we recorded in the studio and it was something I wanted to do for a very long time. Basically, I was inclined towards this all the time and I really enjoy music, I somehow have it in me, and that's why more of those songs were created."

What did you enjoy most and least about the entire process of creating the song Story?

“I didn't want to be the type of performer who can make an entire song turnkey, so I was involved in every component of the process. I can't clearly determine what I enjoyed the most and what I enjoyed the least, I enjoy the whole process, because it is a very pleasant time for me and I feel fulfilled then."

In addition to the Story song, a completely new MATT Zrebný YouTube channel was also created. Can we expect more music creation?

“You can definitely expect more music and I will be releasing it every month, that means a new song coming out every month. And basically, I already have two more songs ready and I'm currently going to shoot clips for them and then I'll jump straight into recording completely new songs."

What do you want to convey to people with your music?

“I would like to show people through music my other side, which is more serious and not just fun and humor. So music actually gives me space to find balance and helps me show people my true self. Through the songs, I also want to deal with ordinary things from the lives of young people, in which they can find themselves and find out that they are not alone."

What will happen to the Zrebny & Frlajs YouTube channel? Will you continue to make videos?

"We will definitely continue with the work on the YouTube channel Zrebny & Frlajs, the fact that I will be making music will not affect it in any way. I certainly wouldn't want to throw the years of work on the Zrebny & Frlajs channel in the trash, because it was really tiring. On the contrary, music motivates me and gives me energy so that I can devote myself to other things."

Which do you enjoy more, music or video production?

"That is very difficult to say, because people always enjoy something that is new and unknown more. Because when we experience something for the very first time, it really excites a person. Currently, music fills me a lot, but I don't forget about production either, because it's still something special for me and I want to devote myself to both directions. Rather, I feel that there are periods when a person is better at one thing than another, but I definitely want to devote myself to music and production. I simply like to create content for people that can entertain them, or take away something from the videos, but most of all I want to spread joy through my creations."

What can your followers look forward to? What are your next plans?

"I will want to release a new song every month and also a video on the Zrebny & Frlajs channel and create, create a lot. I mainly want to make content for people and I hope that they will enjoy it as much as I do. If you enjoy it, then join, and if not, you have many other opportunities."
