News on the Community tab

The Community tab is used to connect you as a creator with the fans who follow you. You can now add up to five images at a time and create a typical slideshow similar to Instagram.
From now on, you can create not only a text survey, but also an image survey. YouTube surveys have high reach, so we definitely recommend using them, and now you can also enrich them with images. Try asking viewers what video they want next, what they liked about the last one, or consult with them on which design for merch is the most beautiful.

4K only in Premium?

Screenshots of random YouTube users who were able to increase the quality of videos for free to FullHD resolution only appeared on Reddit and Twitter.
When choosing the 4K, 2160p option, they were told that they had to subscribe to the Premium service if they wanted to watch in this resolution.

It is not yet known what YouTube's plans are with this and everything is only in the test version, but as expected, few people welcome this change positively. The latest information reveals that YouTube has ended this test for now and 4K resolution is now free for everyone. However, we will see what the new benefits of the Premium version will bring later.

YouTube Premium has been available in our country for several years and currently the standard subscription costs €7.19 per month.

In the USA, the price of the YouTube Premium family plan recently increased by 28%! Specifically, $5 to $22.99.
They sent this email to their subscribers:

We created YouTube Premium to provide an uninterrupted YouTube experience, so you can get closer to the videos, creators, and music artists that you love.
To continue delivering great service and features, we will be increasing your Premium family plan price from $17.99/month to $22.99/month.

A new chapter in Shorts compensation

YouTube began financially rewarding its creators in 2007 when it launched the YouTube Partner Program (YPP). Over the past three years, the platform has paid creators more than $50 billion.
They recently introduced another chapter in their rewards program when they announced new ways to earn money on their site.

There are currently more than two million partners in YPP, and YouTube offers 10 ways to earn money.
Early next year, creators focused on Shorts videos will also be able to join the partner program.
The criteria for successful connection include 1,000 subscribers and 10 million Shorts views.
New partners will be able to benefit from YPP and earn money through ads on videos or through Fan Funding (Super Chat, Stickers, Thanks, Membership).

And how Will it work?

Starting in 2023, Shorts creators will be eligible for a revenue share - they will keep 45% of the earnings based on their share of the total number of views in Shorts.

Ads will appear between videos in the Shorts Feed. Each month, the revenue from these ads will be calculated, distributed to creators, and help pay for the licenses for the music used.
Thanks to this, creatives don't have to worry about whether or not to use licensed music.

Note: As a creator, you will have to accept the new terms of the contract if you want to earn money from Shorts. You will receive a prompt in January, so don't forget to do so. If you successfully confirm the conditions, your Shorts can officially earn you money from February 1, 2023.

Give long videos a second chance in Shorts

We, too, on our TikTok, are putting memorable moments from YT right there, and thanks to that, they will gain a whole new audience. You can now do that in Shorts - you can create a short clip directly from a long video that can gain new views.

How to do it?
Open the YouTube app on your mobile, select a video from your channel, click Edit into a Short and select a section up to 60 seconds long.

New uses music

You probably know that music in videos is the alpha and omega. Without it, a video has no life. It can enrich even boring vacation shots or spice up your commentary in the background.
However, the complexity of licensing often ended with the author not being paid for the video, which led to demotivation and in many cases to unfairness.
Youtube is now trying to create a kind of bridge between the music industry and creators. They want to better define how music can be presented in videos. That's why they recently introduced Creator Music, a new destination in YouTube Studio. It's an ever-expanding catalog of music available to creators of long-form videos. They can purchase affordable licenses to high-quality music that will allow them to fully monetize their videos. What about those who don't want to buy licenses? They'll still be able to fully use the music from the catalog, but they'll share the revenue with the rights holder of the music. Creator Music is currently in beta in the US and will be available in more countries in 2023.

Our partners at Vidad have access to the popular music library Epidemic Sound. It offers a wide selection of high-quality music for your creations, which they can also use for monetized videos.

@ Usernames

The long-awaited usernames on YouTube are here! This is a new way for people to find and connect with you.
Unlike channel names, which is how they worked before, names will be unique, allowing you to create a unique identity.

Your username will be part of your channel's URL. This makes it easier and more efficient for people outside of YouTube to find you.
For example, if you choose the username @ruzovyslon123, your channel's URL will be https://youtube.com/@ruzovyslon123.

It works the same way as on Instagram. People will easily find you thanks to your unique name, you can tag yourself in Shorts or tag YouTube friends in a community announcement or video description.

Do you already know what name you'll choose? Don't worry, YouTube will notify you when you can choose your username.
